Financial Services Antitrust Bulletin
2 October 2023
This edition of the Clifford Chance Financial Services Antitrust Bulletin provides an overview of developments relating to the application of competition law to the financial services sector.
Competition authorities continued to closely scrutinise the financial services sector at a time when legislators and financial regulators proposed major reforms designed to facilitate competition. This included looking at the responses of financial services firms to rising interest rates, threats of climate change and developments in technologies. Competition law concerns around IPOs arose again in Japan where it was considered whether the pricing decisions of a lead underwriter could lead to an infringement under competition legislation. This edition of the Clifford Chance Financial Services Antitrust Bulletin charts recent developments in Europe, North America and the Asia Pacific region.
