Clifford Chance advises Southern Power on acquisition of Millers Branch Solar Facility

Houston: International law firm Clifford Chance has advised US wholesale energy provider Southern Power on its acquisition of Millers Branch Solar Facility from EDF Renewables. Millers Branch Solar, a 200-MW facility with the potential to expand to 500 MW, will contribute to the growing renewable energy market in the United States.

The project, located in Haskell County, Texas, builds on Southern Power's growing fleet of clean energy generating assets, which is comprised of 29 solar and 15 wind facilities in operation or under construction.

Partner Jonathan Bobinger led the transaction with support from associates Mark Sheehy (New York), Matthew Mouer and Hailey Hennessey.

Bobinger says: "We are thrilled to help Southern Power grow its fleet of clean energy assets. We expect to see increasing activity in this space with many energy providers and operators focusing on projects that contribute to the development of renewable energy as we embrace Energy Transition."
