On the job mentoring and performance reviews

We believe in giving people regular feedback as to how they are performing. In addition to "on the job" feedback and mentoring, we have a structured approach to performance review so that people can assess how they are doing - and what they need to do in the future to achieve their career ambitions.

Everyone receives an annual performance review, at which they are helped to identify training and development needs and set career objectives for the year ahead.

Across the firm, we have people who have used their skills to progress to a more senior position. For instance, some legal secretaries have moved to work in different types of role, both within and outside legal practice areas. The opportunities will vary, depending on your particular skills - and ambitions. But, they are definitely there.

We recognise that - for career reasons - you may only plan to work for us for a couple of years before you look elsewhere to move up the career ladder.
