Patricio Abal is a counsel in the Americas Energy & Infrastructure Group. Patricio has deep knowledge in assessing the “bankability” and negotiating the main project documents in energy and infrastructure projects such as offtake agreements and concession/PPP agreements as well as EPC, O&M, fuel supply and interconnection agreements.
He regularly advises sponsors, commercial banks, multilateral organizations, and export credit agencies in all aspects relating to the development and financing of energy and infrastructure projects across Latin America.
- Renovar program, Argentina: the Argentine government in the structuring of RenovAr, Argentina's renewable energy program, along with IFC
- Central Rail Project (Ferrocarril Central), Uruguay: IDB, CAF, CAF – Asset Manager, SMBC and Intesa Sanpaolo S.p.A. on the US$855 million financing of the design, construction, rehabilitation and maintenance of 272 kilometers of railway from Paso de los Toros to Montevideo in Uruguay, which will operate as a Public-Private Partnership and is considered a key transport infrastructure investment for the country; Project Finance: Infrastructure, Deal of the Year, Latin Lawyer Awards 2019; Best Rail PPP, IJGlobal Awards 2019
- AEGEA, Brazil: certain multilateral development institutions and an investment bank in connection with two multi-tranche financings to Águas do Rio SPE 1 and Águas do Rio SPE 4 for the development of water and sewage treatment systems in the State of Rio de Janeiro (ongoing)
