Simona Neagu heads the Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice in the Clifford Chance’s Bucharest office.
With over 30 years of experience, she is one of the most reputable litigators in Romania who has represented numerous in the full range of litigation and dispute resolution matters, including complex commercial disputes, antitrust litigation, public procurement litigation, regulatory litigation, disputes related to the performance of commercial contracts and civil construction contracts (including FIDIC contracts) for major infrastructure projects, and in complex arbitration proceedings under the most frequently used sets of international arbitration rules.
- Representing a global biotechnology firm in antitrust litigation challenging a multi-million Euro fine levied by the Romanian Competition Council. The fine was imposed for an alleged concerted practice aimed at boycotting the Romanian immunoglobulin market.
- Advising and representing Banque Cramer (Switzerland) in enforcement and bankruptcy proceedings against City Insurance, once Romania's largest insurance company, currently involved in one of the country's largest bankruptcy cases.
- Advising a leading international medical equipment manufacturer in one of Romania's largest-ever public tenders for the supply of ambulances for the emergency services, valued at approximately EUR 730 million.
- Advising and representing a leading construction company with a global presence in an ICC FIDIC construction arbitration against the Romanian state-owned motorways’ company in relation to a motorway project in Romania.
- Advising and representing a leading construction company with global presence in a Paris-seated ICC FIDIC construction arbitration against the Romanian state-owned motorways’ company in relation to a road development project in Romania.
- Advising and representing a leading construction company in several arbitrations arising from FIDIC Yellow Book contracts for water infrastructure projects.
- Advising and representing a global power generation and water technologies company in an ICC arbitration related to a power infrastructure project in Romania (environmental upgrade of a major power plant in South-Western Romania).
- Advising and representing a leading Turkish construction company in challenging several decisions made by the contracting authority in relation to three major Romanian motorway public tenders, financed by the EU's post-pandemic Recovery and Resilience Facility.
- Advising and representing a real estate developer in a court case seeking to collect damages due to gross negligence of one of its contractors related to the development of a large shopping mall in Bucharest
- Advising and representing a real estate investor on a court claim seeking the restitution of a plot out of an expropriation corridor as per the agreed layout concerning a highway in Romania
