Anthony Santangeli is an Energy Sector lawyer within our Energy and Infrastructure team. He focuses on project development, project financings and M&A projects across the UK, Europe and Emerging Markets. He is based in London and has previously practised out of Singapore.
Key areas of focus include Offshore Wind, Energy Transition projects including CCUS and Hydrogen, Renewables portfolio transactions and Nuclear New Build.
• Global Infrastructure Partners on a series of equity sell downs of the 1.2GW Hornsea One Offshore Wind project in the UK, which it owns alongside Orsted and which was (as of such time) the world's largest operational Offshore Wind Project. This included split sell downs to: 1) Equitix and TRIG; 2) Greencoat Plc; and 3) Octopus and GLIL.
• Sponsors on the financing and development of a First of a Kind CCUS project in the UK.
• Lenders to EDF Renewables and ESB, consisting of EKF and 24 commercial banks on the financing of the £2bn Neart na Gaoithe Offshore Wind Project in the UK, PFI’s European Offshore Wind Deal of the Year for 2019.
• Adani Green Energy on the acquisition of SoftBank's 5GW solar and wind renewables portfolio in India, valued at $3.5bn. According to Bloomberg NEF, the largest renewables M&A in the world for 2021.
• Sizewell GenCo on the development and financing of the Sizewell C New Nuclear Project in the UK.
• Toshiba and Engie’s NuGeneration Limited, in relation to the proposed financing and development of the proposed 3,600 MWe nuclear new build plant at Moorside, United Kingdom.
• Final round bidders on plans to invest into the £7.6bn Dogger Bank, UK offshore wind project (scheduled to be the world’s largest Offshore Wind project) pursuant to SSE and Equinor’s equity sell down process.
• KKR portfolio company (as it then was), Calisen, on the refinancing of circa £1.1bn debt facilities relating to its smart meter operations in the UK, IJ Global's European digital infrastructure deal of the year 2020.
• Sponsors (including Denham Capital owned Endeavor Energy and GE) on the financing and development of the Bridge Power Project in Ghana, PFI’s African Power Deal of the Year Award for 2019.
• Actis portfolio company on the acquisition of the Central Térmica de Ressano Garcia IPP in Mozambique.
• Actis portfolio company on matters relating to the 100 MWe Kipeto onshore wind project in Kenya.
• Partners Group on shareholder and joint venture arrangements relating to the Greenlink Interconnector Project.
• Proposed investor in respect of the £20bn+ first in a generation nuclear new build project, Hinkley Point C.
