Nathan Sexton specialises in resolving complex disputes through both commercial arbitration, and litigation.
Nathan practices in the infrastructure, commodities, and energy & resources sectors. He has acted in arbitrations under the rules of several arbitration centres, including the ICC and ACICA. His litigation experience includes high value and technically complex cases in the High Court in London in addition to the Supreme Court of several Australian states. He has a particular interest in the ability of equitable remedies to achieve commercial outcomes in disputes.
- Acting for aircraft lessors in High Court proceedings in respect of insurance claims arising from the events in Russia and Ukraine.
- Acting for Airbus in defending a claim brought by Qatar Airways arising from an aircraft manufacture agreement and surface degradation issues on the A350 programme.
- Advising an international steel manufacturer in respect of laytime risk allocation in a complex, long term contract of affreightment.
- Advising a global engineering consultancy in respect of a technically and factually complex construction dispute.
- Acting for a global oil & gas contractor in an international arbitration arising out of a consortium agreement for the construction of the same LNG loading jetty.
- Acting for an energy generation contractor in two parallel ACICA arbitration proceedings pursuant to EPC contracts for the construction of two powerplants in regional Australia.
