Jakub Korneluk practices in international arbitration, investor-state dispute settlement and international disputes as part of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution team, including experience in complex international arbitrations and major construction disputes.

Jakub’s key areas of experience are international resources arbitration, construction and public international law disputes. Jakub has been involved in several high-profile arbitrations including involving the Kingdom of Thailand, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Government of Greenland, and the Kingdom of Denmark.

Jakub has experience working across multiple jurisdictions, including exposure to cross-jurisdictional matters and having worked in Singapore and in Clifford Chance's Hong Kong office.

  • Representing Kingsgate Consolidated Limited in an UNCITRAL arbitration against the Kingdom of Thailand under the Australia-Thailand FTA, the dispute concerning the Chatree Gold Mine in northern Thailand (PCA Case No. 2017-36/AA684)
  • Representing Tantalum International Ltd & Arrowhead Resources Ltd in an ICSID arbitration against the Arab Republic of Egypt under the Australia-Egypt BIT, concerning the Abu Dabbab tantalum and tin mine (ICSID Case No. ARB/18/22)
  • Representing Greenland Minerals Ltd in an ongoing arbitration against the Government of Greenland and the Government of Denmark regarding the right to develop the Kvanefjeld Technology Metals Project (ad hoc)
  • Representing a global oil & gas contractor in two related international arbitrations arising out of:

(i) a design and construction contract for an LNG loading jetty in Western Australia (UNCITRAL Rules, Perth seat; Western Australian governing law)

(ii) a consortium agreement for the construction of the same LNG loading jetty (ICC Rules, Singapore seat; Western Australian governing law)
