Clifford Chance advises Partners Group on direct real estate acquisition of 24,000 sqm Grade A Tokyo office property
Leading international law firm Clifford Chance has advised Partners Group who, on behalf of its clients, has acquired Tama Center - a Grade A office property in Tokyo's Tama New Town.
The acquisition of the 24,000 square metre property marks Partners Group's first direct real estate acquisition in Japan for five years.
Built in 2002, the eight-story Tama Center was designed by architect Kengo Kuma and is currently fully-occupied by Japanese blue-chip companies.
Tokyo partners Leng-Fong Lai and Eiichi Kanda led a cross-border team in Tokyo and Singapore including counsel Yoshiaki Shimizu, associates Takahiro Kawaguchi and Yuki Nakatori, paralegal Junko Matsuda who were the main transaction team and Singapore Partner Kai-Niklas Schneider, counsel Jervis Chan and senior associate Luke Chen who advised on the Singapore law aspects of the transaction.
Leng-Fong commented, "Satellite offices are becoming a favourable option as the search for office space extends away from the Tokyo city centre and businesses adapt to the changes brought by COVID-19. This property is a solid strategic investment and we are proud to have helped bring the investment to fruition."
