Clifford Chance advises European Investment Bank on financing the A3 motorway development
Clifford Chance has advised European Investment Bank (EIB) on the financing of the development of the German A3 motorway. EIB is supporting the development of a 76 km section of the A3 motorway (between the junctions for Biebelried and Fürth/Erlangen) in the context of a public-private partnership. This is the biggest public-private partnership project ever to take place in Germany.
The entire volume of the construction project amounts to around EUR 1.5 billion. Construction work is due to start in May 2020 and completion of the development is scheduled for November 2025. The A3 motorway is a European highway and part of the transeuropean traffic network. The section of the motorway between the junctions for Biebelried and Fürth/Erlangen is also one of the most important roads in northern Bavaria.

Clifford Chance berät Europäische Investitionsbank bei Finanzierung des Autobahn A3-Ausbaus
Die internationale Anwaltssozietät Clifford Chance hat die Europäische Investitionsbank (EIB) bei der Finanzierung des Ausbaus der Bundesautobahn A3 beraten. Im Zuge einer öffentlich-privaten Partnerschaft (ÖPP) unterstützt die EIB den sechsspurigen Ausbau des rund 76 Kilometer langen Autobahnabschnitts zwischen den Autobahnkreuzen Biebelried und Fürth/Erlangen. Dabei handelt es sich um das bislang größte ÖPP-Infrastrukturprojekt in Deutschland.
Das gesamte Bauvolumen beträgt rund 1,5 Milliarden Euro. Der Beginn der Bauaktivitäten ist für Mai 2020 geplant, die Fertigstellung des Autobahnausbaus wird für November 2025 erwartet. Die A3 ist Europastraße und Teil des transeuropäischen Verkehrsnetzes. Zudem ist der Abschnitt zwischen den Autobahnkreuzen Biebelried und Fürth/Erlangen eine der wichtigsten Verkehrsadern Nordbayerns.
