Clifford Chance's Equity Capital Markets practice has been awarded IFLR's European Equity Team of the Year 2020 and also European Equity Deal of the Year 2020 (for advising Huatai Securities, the first Chinese company to list in London using the Shanghai-London Stock Connect scheme). This is the second year in a row the Equity Capital Markets practice has won both these awards, having won the European Equity Deal of the Year 2019 for the Adyen IPO. Clifford Chance advised on over a third of all the transactions shortlisted by IFLR for European Equity Deal of the Year 2020.

Clifford Chance has a market leading Equity Capital Markets practice, ranked in Tier 1 in all of the leading independent directories. The firm has acted on many of the largest and most complex Equity Capital Markets transactions including, most recently, the largest capital raise by an already listed company on the London Stock Exchange in the past 12 months (Informa's £1 billion share issuance in April 2020) and the largest London IPOs in 2019 (Network International's £1.2 billion IPO) and in 2020 to date (Calisen's £300 million IPO). In addition, the firm has advised on a number of landmark transactions including the largest UK rights issue in the past decade (Barclays's £6 billion rights issue in 2013) and the largest-ever London IPO (Glencore's US$10 billion IPO in 2011).

Clifford Chance is currently advising a broad range of corporate and other clients on the implications of COVID-19, including the options available to strengthen balance sheets and enhance liquidity, such as issuing new shares and refinancing existing debt.
