The UK's regulatory environment is becoming increasingly complex as the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) appears to be taking a tougher stance and the National Security Investment Act – which came into force in January 2022 – introduces significant reforms.

In March 2021 the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy published the consultation paper "Restoring trust in audit and corporate governance". In this webinar, Steven Fox moderated a discussion involving Gareth Wright, Group Finance Director at Informa, John Boulton, Policy Director at ICAEW and David Pudge, all of whom shared their insights from the consultation and discussed whether the proposals represent much needed innovation to ensure the highest levels of trust and public confidence in audit and governance and cement Britain as a destination of choice for investment, or whether they represent unnecessary regulatory and political overreach.
