The panel highlighted the intersection of financial innovation, regulatory challenges, and policy interventions. The speakers emphasised the transformative potential of blockchain technology and digital assets, underscoring the need for a balanced regulatory approach to foster innovation while ensuring consumer protection. Key themes included the importance of collaboration between industry and regulators to maintain the UK's competitive edge, noting that the UK risks falling behind other markets without progress in the coming months on its phased crypto regulation. They also explored the potential of tokenization and digital assets for financial services, with a focus on creating new revenue streams and enhancing customer engagement.

Policy interventions suggested by the panellists included issuing digital gilts, tokenizing public infrastructure projects, and leveraging blockchain for public services like conveyancing and NHS records. The discussion highlighted the need for the government to lead by example, using digital assets to demonstrate the benefits of the technology and drive public adoption. Overall, the panellists conveyed a sense of optimism about the future of innovative finance in the UK, provided that regulatory frameworks evolve to support the rapid pace of technological advancements.
