"O&G" vs LNG: The Evolving Role of Gas in the Transition

Clifford Chance APAC Energy & Infrastructure Conference 2024: "O&G" vs LNG: The Evolving Role of Gas in the Transition

At COP28, a landmark Oil & Gas Decarbonisation Charter was launched focused on accelerating climate action and achieving high scale impact across the oil and gas sectors. However, the Charter stopped short of a 'phaseout' of oil, coal and gas. This session will explore these complex dynamics, as developers, investors and financiers seek opportunities that align with emission reduction goals and societal expectations, balancing profitability with sustainability, energy security and a just transition. We will also look at ways in which LNG - often hailed as 'the fuel of the Transition' – may remain an important part of the energy transition in Asia Pacific.
