At Clifford Chance we believe everyone is entitled to the same equality of opportunity and experience.

No one should ever feel they can't be a full and equal member of the firm or society because of a disability. The breadth of wisdom and perspective that people with different life experiences can bring to our firm across the globe only makes us stronger and better at what we do.

However, to benefit from the perspectives of our disabled people we have to constantly strive to deliver that equality of opportunity and daily experience for them.

An evening with the Power of Different

Join us for an evening with the Power of Different on 9 July in celebration of Disability Pride Month. Lucy Martin and Claire Farrington will talk candidly about diversity, equality, inclusion, mental toughness, resilience and post traumatic growth. Claire is a Down Syndrome advocate and mother to Theo with the condition. Born with one hand, Lucy became the BBC's first visibly disabled weather presenter.

International Day of Persons with Disabilities celebrations

International Day of Persons with Disabilities is marked on 3 December annually. It aims to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society. The day also raises awareness of the barriers that exist in every aspect of political, social, economic, and cultural life. Clifford Chance and its disability network Enable, are proud to observe this day every year and help #StampOutStigma.

Asia Pacific

Regional Managing Partner Connie Heng hosted an Asia Pacific panel discussion on the different approaches taken in raising disability inclusion awareness and challenging stigma.

Hong Kong

Colleagues volunteered with Dignity Kitchen Hong Kong, Love 21 Foundation and CareER Association as part of a community outreach project.

Germany

We hosted a panel discussion for clients on disability inclusion in the workplace, featuring Charles Adams, Tanja Apholte, Martin Clemm, Barbara Lampl, Malin Schlick and Dr Heiner Hugger.

Middle East

Specialist Lexxic hosted a webinar on Neurodiversity in the Workplace for over 200 colleagues in the Middle East and the UK.

Perth

Colleagues competed in a game of wheelchair basketball, hosted by Rebound WA.

Singapore

Colleagues joined 13,000 people from more than 120 organisations for the 11th edition of the Purple Parade, marching together to support and celebrate disabled people.

UK

We hosted a conference on progressing disability inclusion in the legal sector, featuring clients, colleagues and disability inclusion experts. We were also joined by AllAble who hosted a pop-up empathy lab for our attendees!

Our award-winning My Lived Experience series

Our affinity network Enable creates opportunities for colleagues to celebrate our people, as exemplified by our People in Law 2022 award-winning Enable: My Lived Experience series. The series features people across Clifford Chance talking about their experiences of visible and non-visible disabilities and what it means for them in their day-to-day role at the firm.

Enable launches in India

India

Our colleagues in India have launched a new chapter of our global affinity network Enable. Global Director of Inclusion Tiernan Brady opened the event by sharing insights into the network and its objectives, followed by a Disability Awareness Workshop, facilitated by Incluzza. The workshop finished with an interactive and informative Q&A session which enabled colleagues to test their knowledge pn the topic of disability.

We raise awareness, provide guidance and highlight the support available within Clifford Chance, as well as provide a safe space to engage and network.
