Edward Charlton-Jones is a Senior Associate in our energy and infrastructure (E&I) practice. He has extensive experience working in complex, multinational transactions developing and financing E&I projects. Edward brings an international perspective to his work, having practiced law in London, Istanbul, Paris and New York.
Advised the U.S. Department of Commerce’s CHIPS Program Office ("CPO") on an award of up to $7.865 billion in direct funding for commercial fabrication and packaging facilities of leading-edge chips that Intel Corp. is developing in Arizona, New Mexico, Ohio, and Oregon. This was one of the largest awards made under the CHIPS Act of 2022.
Advised CPO on an award of up to $3 billion in direct funding to Intel (separate from the above transaction) for construction and operation of facilities to ensure a domestic supply chain of advanced semiconductors for national security purposes.
Advised CPO on an award of up to $35.5 million to BAE Systems Electronic Systems for the modernization of BAE's Microelectronics Center in New Hampshire, designated a "Trusted Foundry" by the Department of Defense.
Advised the sponsors on a multi-billion dollar international pipeline.
Advised the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Europen Investment Bank (EIB) on the development and financing of a portfolio of distributed solar assets developed by Masdar in Samarkand with an aggregate capacity of 900 MW (IJGlobal Deal of the Year 2023)
Advised ADB, EBRD, First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Natixis on the development and financing of the 500MW Zarafshan wind power plant (IJGlobal Deal of the Year 2022)
