Clifford Chance supports Culture Prioritaire, working to maximise the academic and professional success of young students from underprivileged backgrounds
Since cultural and home-life backgrounds play decisive roles in the academic and professional success of students, Clifford Chance is proud to support 'Culture Prioritaire', an organisation whose objective is to support students from challenging socioeconomic situations and increase equal opportunities.
In order to achieve this objective, Culture Prioritaire mentors around 300 high school and college students every year, offering them extra educational opportunities on top of what they would receive at school (interactive seminars, extracurricular trips, lectures from professionals on their areas of expertise and careers, etc…).
In December 2019, Clifford Chance in Paris was delighted to introduce a corporate discovery internship for secondary school students who were interested in the legal profession to discover the different aspects of working in our firm. Since September 2020, nearly 30 lawyers and Business Professionals have taken part in the mentoring programme for young students on a voluntary basis, lasting the entirety of the school year. This mentoring programme includes individual support for each student, encouraging the student to reflect upon his/her professional plans, encourage the students to use and progress their English and give them the opportunity to discover the professional world. This support is all the more important given the current health situation and the different lockdowns that may result in negative consequences on students' ability to access education. Feedback from the students has been very positive and we look forward to continuing the programme to help a wider number of students.
